Oreck Steam-It Review

Great All Round Cleaning the Natural Way

I’m often referred to as a “closet hippy” by many of my friends and family. The reason for this is that I’m constantly on the lookout for cleaning utensils that will do the job at hand without harming the general environment around us, or the air in our homes.

I understand it’s not always possible to get great cleaning results without using the odd industrial chemical here and there. However, for those of you that are sensitive about the planet and how we treat it, I’m sure you’ll understand why I do my best to be “green” where I can.

The reason I’ve given you this snippet of information is so you can understand one of the reasons why I have decided to review the Oreck Steam-It.
On first sight, this cleaner may look like a vacuum, yet it’s not. It’s also not a conventional steam mop or pressure washer. In fact, it’s hard to put a name to this product but that doesn’t stop it from being great at what it’s built for.

How It Works

Simply put, this steam cleaner uses water (I’ll get on to that in a moment) at a low pressure range of about 50-60 PSI to create a dry steam so it can remove all sorts of dirt on grime on a wide range of surfaces. The best thing about this is you don’t need any additional detergents which can be harmful to your environment.

One thing I would like to point out here is the information I have come across tells you it’s possible to use water straight from your tap.
If you don’t have particularly hard water, this may well be the case. However for those of that do I would recommend you use distilled water instead. The reason for this is hard water will leave deposits inside the cleaner that can shorten its life.

What You Get In the Box

Well, you get the steam cleaner (of course), but in addition to that you will get a 4 piece attachment kit which includes 4 bonnets for the head (which are washable). Various different tools that can be attached to the head so you can clean just about any type of surface, and the manufacturer has kindly included clips so you can use your own household towels instead of the bonnets provided.

What It Can Be Used For

This is where things get really exciting. Not only can you use this steam cleaner for your floors, it also has a reservoir that won’t spill when you turn it upside down. This makes it incredibly versatile. It’s perfect for ground in dirt on the grout of tiles in your bathroom, around the sinks in your kitchen and you can even use it to steam clean the upholstery in your car.

In fact, anywhere you have a problem with ground in dirt, this steam cleaner will help. When it comes to the surfaces you can use this product with bear in mind it will only deal with hard floors made from things like marble, stone, vinyl, linoleum and sealed hardwood floors. Notice the word sealed, this is very important if you want to get the best from this product (and don’t want to ruin your floors).

In Conclusion

I can’t really fault this steam cleaner, it has everything. The cord is 25 feet long making it easier to move from room to room, hard to remove stains will come away by holding it in the same place for a mere 5 seconds and it can be used in all sorts of places around the home.

The price tag will surprise you as well! If you’re interested in finding out more, take a peek at Amazon. The last time I looked they had some great discounts on offer.
