Keep Those Germs at Bay in Your Home
There isn’t much I don’t know about keeping an indoor environment clean. A lot of people think that once they’ve splashed some detergent into a bucket of hot water and mopped their floors, they think it’s a job well done. This might be the case, but only to a certain extent. You see using mops in the traditional way will “clean” your floors but it won’t get rid of all those nasty germs that can cause illnesses.
The problem is that if we can’t see the dirt, we don’t think it’s there and that’s simply not true.
So, for this review I’m going to tell you all about the multi purpose HAAN SI-70 Steam Cleaner.
What you should know is this isn’t necessarily a normal steam mop. In fact, I would prefer to call it a sanitizer. Yes, it will loosen dirt that gets stuck to your surfaces but its main job is to make sure the bacteria you can’t see is, shall we say, obliterated.
Let’s get on with what you can expect from this floor steamer.
Multi-Purpose
You can use the SI-70 for numerous cleaning jobs around the home, and some of them may not have occurred to you.
Think about the last time you gave your upholstery a good going over or your cushions, the seats in your car or other soft furnishings around the home? I’m betting the answer to this one will take a bit of thinking time, and this is where this steamer will help you.
Of course, you can use it for your floors, but you also get the following included in the box.
- 2 x Ultra microfiber pads (which should be washed often. In fact, there will be times when you should change the pad halfway through the job at hand).
- 1 x Floor protector/resting mat which means you can store this steamer away without causing any damage to your surface.
- 1 x Carpet glide attachment.
- 1 x Small steam head plus bonnet.
- 1 x Angled nozzle.
- 1 x Nylon brush.
- 12 pack of fresh rinse lime-scale remover.
Just by looking at the list above, you begin to see how versatile this steamer is. It can be used to freshen and deodorize you carpets, sanitize the hard to reach areas around your toilet and faucets, and anywhere else that bacteria can hide.
Key Features
You can use this steamer on just about any type of hard or soft surface but remember that HAAN recommend you test a small area when using it for the first time. When used correctly, this model will remove almost 100% of bacteria, general household germs and dust mites.
You benefit from a 25 foot power cord which makes life a lot easier if you have a large space to clean, and it has no less than 15 steam jets which means it can be ready to use in as little as 15 seconds! Plus, the head swivels so it’s easier to maneuver.
Some Words of Advice
There have been a few poor reviews for this steamer but they can be explained. For instance, some people state it doesn’t clean their floors. It goes without saying that you should always vacuum or sweep before you use a cleaning utensil like this, and you have to remember the technology behind this steamer is sanitization, so you need to start with an “almost” clean surface.
Some comments have also been made about the heater element breaking down. This may be due to a defective unit (not everything can be perfect all the time). However, if you want to refill your steamer when it’s in use don’t use cold water. Instead, use either warm or hot water. This reduces shock to an element that’s already very hot and will prevent it from breaking down.
In Conclusion
If you’re looking for a multi-purpose tool that doesn’t need any chemicals and will sanitize all sorts of areas around the home, this steamer is worth taking a look at. For more detailed information and pricing take a look at Amazon, you’ll be surprised at the savings you can make!
